


In the study, it was concluded that Burdur province has a rich potential in terms of cultural tourism, but this rich potential cannot be utilized at the desired level. The data of the research was obtained from qualitative research methods, document review and on-site observation method. Based on this, the study aimed to introduce cultural tourism resources of the province, to determine the use of the potential of cultural tourism, to make SWOT analysis of the province and to develop cultural tourism in Burdur province in order to contribute to the development of Burdur as a tourism region with its immediate surroundings. In this sense, in order to contribute to the economic development of Burdur province, it is of utmost importance to introduce other tourism resources of the province and to ensure that the tourists who come to the city also visit different destinations. However, despite these positive developments, many natural-cultural heritage resources of the province do not receive sufficient interest in the tourism market. According to the data of Burdur Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate, in parallel with the number of tourists coming to Lake Salda, the number of visitors to Burdur Museum and Sagalassos Ancient City, one of the important cultural tourism destinations of the province, has increased significantly. Burdur is visited by many tourists due to the increasing interest in Lake Salda in recent years and the fact that the province is located close to the important tourism centers of our country. With an economy based on agriculture, animal husbandry and marble sector, Burdur is one of the provinces where many tourism activities can be done with its nature, history and cultural tourism resources. In this sense, the contributions of geography are of utmost importance in the process of revealing the tourism potential of a region and bringing tourism resources into tourism considering the balance of use and conservation.

Taking into account the demands of the sector in the tourism planning of the regions with tourism resources, adds positively to economic development and the development of tourism destinations. Tourism affects many business lines in the world today, both feeding the business sectors and acting as a locomotive to increase the income of the countries.
